Gutter Guards

Do Gutter Guards Work in Florida? What to Know Before You Buy

Guards promise less gutter cleaning. Whether they deliver depends on the mesh, your roof and how the guard is fitted.

What a guard actually has to do

A gutter guard has two jobs at once: keep leaves, seed pods and shingle grit out, and let a Florida downpour straight through. A guard that blocks debris but also blocks water is not a guard. Mesh size is the whole job.

Micro-mesh, foam or brush?

Guards come in several styles. Foam and brush inserts sit inside the gutter and tend to hold debris and moisture. Stainless micro-mesh sits over the gutter and is designed to shed debris while letting water through. Ask exactly what is going on your house, and what the mesh is made of.

Will it fit your roof?

Tile, metal and shingle roofs are all common here, and a guard has to be fitted to the one you have. Ask whether installation means lifting tile or touching the roof covering, and whether it affects your roof warranty. Ours are fitted to tile, metal and shingle roofs and mounted without lifting tile or voiding a roof warranty.

Clean the gutters first

Guards should go on clean gutters. Any good install starts with the existing gutters cleared and flushed, so you are not sealing last season's debris under the new mesh.

Check the size and the fit

  • Guards need to match your gutter size. We fit 5-inch, 6-inch and 7-inch K-style gutters.
  • They can be retrofitted to your current gutters or supplied with a new run.
  • Hangers, pitch and outlets still matter. A guard does not fix a sagging gutter.
Guards cut down how often gutters fill. They do not make a gutter maintenance-free forever, so an occasional check of the hangers, pitch and outlets is still smart.

We install gutter guards for homeowners in Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and across the Treasure Coast. If your gutters are already full, gutter cleaning comes first, and twice-yearly scheduling is available.

Common questions

Do gutter guards mean I never have to clean my gutters?

Guards greatly reduce how often gutters fill, but a periodic check of the hangers, pitch and outlets is still worthwhile.

What type of gutter guard do you install?

We install stainless micro-mesh guards, not foam or brush inserts.

Can gutter guards go on a tile roof?

Yes. Our guards are fitted to tile, metal and shingle roofs and mounted without lifting tile or voiding a roof warranty.

What gutter sizes do the guards fit?

They fit 5-inch, 6-inch and 7-inch K-style gutters, retrofitted to your current gutters or supplied with a new run.
